Day by day itinerary
Day 1
Arrival in Igoumenitsa - Zagori (220km)
Our guide will wait for you in the port of Igoumenitsa, and if you have selected the ferry company we suggest, your arrival will be early in the morning. A short ride will take you to the beautiful city of Ioannina for a coffee stop and sightseeing. From Ioannina we will start ascending towards the area of Zagori with the traditional settlements and great roads...
Day 2
Zagori - Prespa lakes (240km)
In the morning we will ride a part of Zagori area and via Konitsa (with the impressive stone bridge) we will head north on a fantastic biking road with continuous curves. We will stop for lunch at Pentalofos - a small village into the mountains, and we will then ride to Kastoria to enjoy a coffee by the lake. From here it is about half an hour ride to Prespa lakes and the traditional guesthouse we will spend the night, just across the road from an 11th century church!
Day 3
Prespa lakes - Naousa (180km)
After we visit some Byzantine monuments in the area of Prespa lakes, we will ride a mountain pass to Florina, and from there to Nympheo, one of the most beautiful villages in Greece , where we will have lunch. From Nympheo to Naousa the road is easier and more relaxed, so we will have time for a coffee stop at Edessa or even a wine tasting in the area of Naousa...
Day 4
Naousa - Thessaloniki (150km)
Our first stop for today will be the archaeological site of Vergina (listed as a UNESCO world heritage site) and the tomb of Phillip II, Alexander's father. Thessaloniki is less than hour of easy ride away, and we will have the whole day to relax and explore the city....
Day 5
Rest day - Loop ride Sithonia (230km)
Sithonia peninsula is well known for it's beaches, but it also has a fantastic twisty road ideal for motorcycles. The road runs between the forest and the beaches and it is always a pleasure to ride. To get there, we will also ride some nice roads to the foothills of Mt. Holomontas, with amazing views of the coastal areas.
Day 6
Rest day - Loop ride to Ouranoupolis (180km)
Oupanoupolis is the gate to Mt. Athos (Holy Mountain), but is also surrounded by beautiful sandy beaches. To get there, we will ride some twisty roads through Mt Holomontas oak forests, and some coastal roads next to the beaches. We will also visit an open air park, featuring some of Aristotle's inventions as he was born in a nearby ancient city...
Day 7
Thessaloniki - Kallirroi (300km)
Our main destination for today is the area of Meteora, with the monasteries build on top of vertical rocks...We will start easy, following Egnatia Odos up to Grevena (with a deviation for a nice mountain pass) and then we will ride a nice mountain road that will take us near Metsovo and the top of Katara pass. We will ride down Katara pass to Meteora, where we will spend a couple of hour to admire the monasteries and the scenery... Another 60km of twisty mountain roads will take us to the hotel, deep in the forest of Aspropotamos
Day 8
Kallirroi - Igoumenitsa (150km) & departure
After visiting a couple of very nice old monasteries, we will ride a small mountain road to Metsovo for a short stop. Our next stop is the city of Ioannina, and we can get there using the new highway or the old, twisty road...We will spend some time in the city for sightseeing, relaxing and last minute shopping, before the last easy, 1 hour ride to the port of Igoumenitsa
